Christmas songs

Childhood memory

Christmas is well and truly near and I anticipate that special christmas jellof rice, the fried rice, events, shows, Christmas songs and trees , although not as I would when I was a child. Remember Father Christmas? Oh! No it’s Santa Claus😀. I remember my mum getting me new shoes, clothes and underwear which I literally keep wearing every Sunday until the next Christmas.

Christmas songs are my best childhood Christmas memories and these are my favourite childhood Christmas songs;

1. Santa Claus is coming to town

[Chorus]
You better watch out, you better not cry
Better not pout, I’m telling you why
Santa Claus is coming to town
He’s making a list and checking it twice
Gonna find out who’s naughty and nice
Santa Claus is coming to town
He sees you when you’re sleeping
He knows when you’re a wake
He knows if you’ve been bad or good
So be good for goodness sake
Oh! You better watch out, you better not cry
Better not pout, I’m telling you why
Santa Claus is coming to town

2. Jingle bells

Dashing through the snow
In a one-horse open sleigh
O’er the fields we go
Laughing all the way
Bells on bobtail ring’
Making spirits bright
What fun it is to ride and sing
A sleighing song tonight!

Jingle bells, jingle bells,
Jingle all the way.
Oh! what fun it is to ride
In a one-horse open sleigh.
Jingle bells, jingle bells,
Jingle all the way;
Oh! what fun it is to ride
In a one-horse open sleigh.

3. Joy to the world

[Verse 1]
Joy to the World, the Lord has come!
Let earth receive her King;
Let every heart prepare Him room,
And Heaven and nature sing,
And Heaven and nature sing,
And Heaven, and Heaven, and nature sing.

[Verse 2]
Joy to the World, the Savior reigns!
Let men their songs employ;
While fields and floods, rocks, hills and plains
Repeat the sounding joy,
Repeat the sounding joy,
Repeat, repeat, the sounding joy.

4. Mary born child Jesus

Mary’s boy child Jesus Christ, was born on Christmas Day.
And man will live for evermore, because of Christmas Day.

Long time ago in Bethlehem, so the Holy Bible said,
Mary’s boy child Jesus Christ, was born on Christmas Day.

Hark, now hear the angels sing, a king was born today,
And man will live for evermore, because of Christmas Day.
Mary’s boy child Jesus Christ, was born on Christmas Day.

While shepherds watch their flocks by night,
They see a bright new shining star,
They hear a choir sing a song, the music seemed to come from afar.

Hark, now hear the angels sing, a king was born today,
And man will live for evermore, because of Christmas Day.

5. The first Noel

The first Noel the angels did say
Was to certain poor shepherds
In fields as they lay,
In fields where they,
Laying their sheep
On a cold winter’s night
That was so deep.
Noel Noel Noel Noel!
Born is the King of Israel!

I love Christmas songs http://www.lyricsfreak.com/c/christmas+songs/   and as a child, apart from the Christmas rice, that’s the only childhood memory I can really remember. Now everyone either travel back home or stay wherever they are and send in Christmas text messages or calls and hope we all enjoying ourselves.

Merry Xmas in advance!
